The Acting Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRAS), James Baggie Bio, unveiled the new Director of Human Resources and Administration on January 5, 2022, and informed Road Safety Corps of his plans to rebrand the SLRSA under his leadership.
Speaking to Road Safety Corps during a Muster Parade at the Authority’s Headquarters on Kissy Road in Freetown, the Acting Executive Director stated that he was ready to implement new
disciplinary measures as well as staff motivation strategies that will strengthen and rebrand the SLRSA’s image.
Introducing the New Director of Human Resources and Administration, Bio stated Josie Scott-Manga is a very professional Human Resources expert with long standing experience in managing people and resources.
The Acting Executive Director furthered that the new H.R Director will work directly with various Heads of Departments to see how best they can reintroduce professional trainings for staff so as to improve their capacity in performing their day-to-day duties at work.
He however admonished personnel to be respectful and professional in their duties and must always bear in mind that much is expected of them as public service providers.
Highlighting some of his plans for the year 2022, he said the Human Resources Directorate is working on promotion assessment for corps who, over the years have served the Authority diligently and will thus be promoted to their deserving ranks.
“We are working on reviewing the staff condition of service to ensure it matches up with the level of energy we apply to work and our current financial standings and this will go with salary increment if need be,” he said.
Dilating on indiscipline, Bio said the Board and Management frown at any form of indiscipline and professional misconduct from any staff under the umbrella of the Authority and there are laws to the effect to penalize defaulters if found wanting.
The Director Human Resources and Administration, Josie Scott-Manga said he was pleased to have been given the opportunity to serve the SLRSA in the capacity as Director of Human Resources and Administration. Scott-Manga said he is ready to merge his experience and expertise in managing the Authority’s Human Resources to maximize the welfare of staff for the overall benefits of all and sundry.
Augustine Kaitongie, Director of Safety and Enforcement Department said the New Year comes with new challenges and expectations but with determination and collective efforts the Authority will definitely achieve it mandate. He admonished Road Safety Corps to be mindful of the way they portray themselves in public more so when faced with ethical and professional dilemmas.
