Yung Sal joins Hejenah and premiers “Sabi Sabi”

Talented Sierra Leonean rapper, Abdul Salam Barrie, stage name ‘Yung Sal’ de badman has signed a recording, deal with Hejenah Entertainment, one of Sierra Leone’s major record companies and premier new single ‘Borku Sense (SABI SABI)’ in Freetown. 

Yung Sal, well known for his hit song ‘Kam Join We Bo,’ whose video has been viewed over 158,000 times on YouTube, is a pioneer behind one of Sierra Leone’s finest musical crossover success stories as a pioneer of the new skool genre. His song hits all major local radio stations’ charts, nationwide including Sierra Leone’s national broadcast SLBC.

The agreement’s content was not divulged; nevertheless, Hejenah Records management said that the two-year deal is well-packaged.

Nashito Kulala, realname Joseph Sedu Koroma, of Hejenah Entertainment, claims to have negotiated a highly profitable partnership but is unable to provide financial specifics.

Amadu Lumeh, Yung Sal’s manager, underscored the importance of working with the Hejenah Entertainment Record label. He said that the Hejenah team the dream of the artist, that’s why they have decided to sign up with them.

“We are delighted to be here to participate and collaborate with Hejenah.”

“It’s about connecting our ambitions with someone who believes similarly to us,” he explains.

Yung Sal expressed his delight to be part of Hejenah Entertainment, noting that the signing was to make it official, but in actuality, he has always been with the label as the founders and brothers that shared his vision. 

Hejenah Entertainment CEO Quanmalo Tejan-Kella, an accomplished young intellectual, and entrepreneur. He runs the label with his friends Joseph Sedu (Nashito Kulala) Koroma, and Ibrahim Bakarr (Rahim De Wizard).

The core of his company is to develop a platform for the growth of Salone music and the development of local talents. 

The CEO explained that Hejenah was born in 2014 from the dreams of three young Sierra Leoneans: Quanmalo Tejan-Kella (Queey Hejenah), Joseph Sedu (Nashito Kulala) Koroma, and Ibrahim Bakarr (Rahim De Wizard). He added that the company has collaborated with notable Sierra Leonean artists such as 441, Suga Lulu, Abizzy, and others. 

Quanmalo emphasises that the signing of Yung Sal represents a continuation of the Hejenah Entertainment record label’s ambition of bringing Sierra Leone music to the globe.

During the signing event, a new song titled ‘Borku Sense (SABI SABI)’ was also premiered, which was recorded and produced under the Hejenah Entertainment record label.
