Shooting, death of Don Pole implicates OSD Officer, SLPP Chairman

The shooting and subsequent murder of SLPP Young Generation member Mohamed Koroma alias Don Pole at the party headquarters in Freetown on June 29, 2021 has taken an unexpected turn.

Preliminary investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) revealed that Don Pole was shot by Sierra Leone Police (SLP) troops acting on the orders of the SLPP National Chairman, Dr. Prince Alexander Harding.
When the CID sent the case and enquiry file to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice for consultation, this was his response in a letter to the Head of CID for the attention of the Director of Public Prosecution, which was copied to the Inspector General of Police and the Deputy: In the communication titled: RE:AN ALLEGED CASE OF SHOOTING WITH INTENT TO KILL– the Attorney General discovered the following in regard to the subject sent to him for further guidance, which file he had perused:

Therefore, I advise that you continue with the investigation on the alleged case of murder, contrary to law and revert with your findings to the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, for necessary action.

Done Pole, who died at the Emergency Hospital at Goderich in the early morning hours of Sunday 17th November, 2021 alleged that he was shot at close range by OSD personnel Julius Amara at the SLPP headquarters in Freetown on 29th June, 2021 at around 3:45 p.m. local time.

Sources alleged that there was an altercation on that date between and amongst party supporters after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to set up the rules for the conduct of primary elections at zonal, constituency, and regional levels.
