GIC adheres to contractual obligations- CEO

Paul Oparah, Chief Executive Officer of Globalrisk Insurance Firm (GIC) – SL Ltd, has disputed accusations that the company does not adhere to its standards with consumers nationally.

According to the CEO, one of GIC’s volunteer marketers, Michael James, over-marketed the company’s goods; nonetheless, this has been ratified with multiple consumers since some of the customers understood the company’s lending policy and are already profiting from it.

He explained that GIC was duly incorporated as a limited liability company under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and was authorised by the Sierra Leone Insurance Commission (SLIC) to conduct insurance business, which was fully verified with all authentic documents indicating that the company is a fully recognised legal entity.

Oparah emphasised that GIC has life insurance products such as the ‘Gentri’ Assurance Plan and the Guaranteed Education Assurance Plan, among others, noting that the primary goal of the ‘Gentri’ Assurance Plan is to ensure that the policyholder lives a good life by providing loan facilities to customers to acquire basic household assets, save for the future, and provide benefit for dependants in the event of the customer’s death; while the Guaranteed Education Assurance Plan helps customers save towards future education of their children, as well as providing yearly financial support to the child up to 18 years in the event that the customer dies before then.

He stated that the company’s clientele included numerous institutions and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies from around the country (MDAs).

The CEO also stated that the business’s lending plan is fully operational and that they began issuing loans to its consumers over a year ago in 2021, and that the company has disbursed over Five Hundred Million Leones (Le 500, 000,000) to its customers countrywide.

CEO Oparah remarked that he is ready to do more to better the lives of government workers so that they may reach their full potentials and realise their aspirations of living a comfortable life with their families, which is nearly hard to attain in their everyday lives given global economic trends.

Adding that the government cannot do it alone, he encouraged the private sector to provide services that would improve residents’ quality of life. “GIC as an institution is committed to improving the lives of all Sierra Leoneans who are qualified to participate in any of their policies,” he stated.
