Statistics Sierra Leone ensures payment completion to Field Staff

Statistics Sierra Leone has made sure that the completion of payment to enumerators in many districts, particularly the Western Area with few pending payments remaining in a small number of districts in the country which are without the presence of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank.

Dr. Francis Kai-Kai, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, spent the whole weekend monitoring the payment process of field personnel in the Western Area Rural, organising and ensuring the payment of over 1,500 enumerators and supervisors.

Minister Kai-Kai commended the field employees for their patriotism and commitment to contribute to the country development, as well as their patience and decorum, in a brief address, as he explained the reason for the payment delay. He reassured them of Stat-ongoing SL’s commitment to finish the payment procedure by Sunday, December 12, 2021.
He called on the enumerators to quickly join the others who are already collecting credible information in the field. Data collected are already being synced on the Stat-SL servers at their headquarters in Freetown.

The Deputy Statistician-General, Andrew Johnny also thanked the enumerators and supervisors for the good work they have started, identifying their respective enumeration areas and beginning to count all persons who slept in their households on the 9th December 2021, which was dubbed as “Census Night”. 

He said the official counting would go on until 23rd December 2021 and that there would be time for mopping up until all households in the country have been counted. 

According to a press statement issued by Statistics Sierra Leone, signed 12 December 202, District census coordinators, data quality monitors, and district statisticians have been deployed in each district.
