Hollywood Producers discusses filming possibilities in Sierra Leone

President Bio met with two Hollywood producers from The Roots Production Service, Ariel Leon, and Michael Duff, to discuss the possibility of filming on location in Freetown, Bo, and other parts of Sierra Leone by next year in order to market Sierra Leone’s tourism and entertainment industry globally.

These two producers, from an iconic symbol of  showbiz in the United States, were in Sierra Leone as part of an advanced team to scout prospective filming locations for a film called “The Bridge To Kono.”

Dr. Julius Spencer, who chaired the team, complimented President Bio for inviting them and said that the producers were traveling to interact with authorities and stakeholders on the project’s progress.

He guaranteed that the project country would be of significant benefit to the country since it would improve the tourist sector and attract additional directors and producers to invest in similar enterprises.

Ariel Leon, owner and managing partner of The Roots Production Service, explained that they were in Sierra Leone on behalf of the film’s director, Werner Herzog, a well-known German film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter who is credited in over 60 films.

He stated that they hoped to shoot on location in Freetown, Bo, and other locations in Sierra Leone in mid-2022 and that they had visited close to 50 bridges in the nation and we’re excited to film on the Bumpeh bridge in the country’s south.

President Bio stated in his brief remarks that he had been notified about the film and wanted to assure them of his government’s complete assistance in making the production a success.

“My government will offer the essential papers to assist you in making your job simpler,” he said.
