168 pupils receives packages from FSSG Old Girls North Carolina

Christmas came early for pupils at the Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG), as the Old Girls Association in North Carolina, United States distributed 168 bags with school supplies to 168 qualified kids in both Junior and Senior Secondary.

“My entire life has been spent on these grounds, however it’s a bit different today,” Fatmata Cole, an ex-student of the FSSG North Carolina branch, commented, “but I still admire the school and pray that it would be better.”

Furthermore, because of their strong feelings for the school, ex-students in North Carolina have volunteered to send backpacks and school supplies to outstanding children each year.

We gave a present two years ago, but it was only half as large as what we did today. We aim to make this sort of commitment for the entire school on an annual basis. We are inviting all former students to make a donation to the university.

Yvonne Cole, an ex-pupil of the FSSG North Carolina branch, Fatmata Cole, who graduated in the late 1970s, stated that as a young organisation, they want to leave an impression on the girls so that when they finish, they would return and give back to the school. Even if we haven’t given much, every little amount helps. She said that the girls were picked based on their academic performance and behaviour.

Hassantu Bangura, a JSS 3f student, expressed her thanks and appealed to other ex-students and well-wishers to join in and help the youngsters. “There are some orphaned students who are in severe need of such aid,” she stated.

Gloria Macfoy, JSS Principal at FSSG, discussed how the contribution will benefit the students’ education.

“This will have an impact on these children, especially by easing the burden on parents who will have to purchase some of these school materials for their children; at the very least, they will save what they would have spent because ex-students have provided some of these essential school materials,” she explained. ‘What you have received, please pass it on.”
