Interpol closing in on LAC in Guinea

Interpol from Sierra Leone has joined their counterpart in Guinea to track down fugitive convicted murderer Baimba Moiforay alias LAC after he was spotted at the Kipe Tourisme Hotel in Conakry on Tuesday.

Sources say he was in Room 8 at the hotel but left a day before the raid was conducted on Wednesday 19 January, adding that “the net has now been cast even more wider to neighbouring countries”.

LAC disappeared from Freetown a couple of days ago after a State House release announced on Monday 17 January that President Julius Maada Bio had revoked his pardon that he was granted on New Year’s Day as part of a prerogative of mercy for any person convicted of any offence against the laws of Sierra Leone.

Press Secretary Yusuf Keketoma Sandi has described the process leading to the controversial release of the convicted murderer as “flawed and unprocedural” when he responded to Radio Democracy on the question of why the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Anthony Brewah, was immediately replaced on account of that blunder.

The herbalist and his bodyguard were sentenced to death by hanging in October 2016 after they were convicted of the murder in June 2015 of popular radio DJ, Sydney David Buckle.
