VP Judleh returns after sustainable power search in Ghana

Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has returned to Freetown on Sunday, 13 December 2021 following a successful visit to Ghana to learn firsthand from Ghana’s Millennium Development Authority (MIDA) in order to help Sierra Leone successfully implement its MCC’s Compact Development Programs, with a focus on sustainable and adequate energy generation and supply.
Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh arrived in Accra on 6 December 2021. He was met by officials of MIDA and Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner in Ghana, Francess Virginia Anderson. During his visit, Mr. Jalloh also had the opportunity to witness some of the projects launched by MIDA in Ghana and assess Sierra Leone’s own growth and development priorities.
In Ghana, the Vice President and his delegation also met some of Ghana’s economic, political and social leaders, and toured some of the activities of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, including Ghana’s Grid Company (GRIDCo) At GRIDCo, the Vice President emphasised that Sierra Leone government regards the energy sector as the country’s backbone and wishes to follow in Ghana’s footsteps. He also encouraged GRIDCo to share the experience with their Sierra Leone colleagues to guarantee Sierra Leone’s desire to build its energy industry is guided.
The Vice President stressed that Sierra Leone sees energy sector development as an important project to create more employment opportunities and make the country economically competitive.
