A beehive of supporters and worshipers swam the Mende mosque at Circular Road as aspiring Mayoral hopeful for the Municipality of Freetown, Mohamed Gento Kamara makes way for today’s -Friday 3O September, 2O22 -Juma Prayers.
Addressing Traditional leaders of Western Area, and the rest of the Jama after prayers Mohamed Gento Kamara expressed his conviction to aspire for Mayor of the Municipality of Freetown.
According to Mohamed Gento Kamara, his aspirating to be Mayor of the municipality of Freetown is to “break tribalism” heighten by bad politics “for far too long, there is so much tension between the tribes in Sierra Leone and we need to put an end to hypocrisy and work together to develop Sierra Leone because this is the only country we have.”
Mohamed Gento Kamara also explained that his conviction to aspire for the Freetown Mayoral seat was as a result of the 1Oth August incident.
“Some people will not understand the impact of the August 1O incident… That incident has taken this country backward for another five years because big investment companies or banks would be afraid to invest in Sierra Leone because of instability.”
Mohamed Gento Kamara further explained that bad politicians are responsible for the political tension in the country. He said that the people who are most affected by this tension are business owners because they are the cogs of the economic machinery of the State.
“Some of us for far too long our voices are not here because we are businessmen, but I am stepping in now to fight against bad politicians and politics, this is why I don’t preach party politics but appeal to all Sierra Leoneans who believe in me, to follow me”
He also said the tribal heads are an epitome of unity and a microcosm of how we should be as a nation.
Mohamed Gento Kamara further noted that his aspiration is not to challenge the creoles but it is an opportunity for all to understand that we are all Sierra Leoneans. It takes all of us to develop Freetown come 2O23.
Mohamed Gento Kamara also said with his construction background, he is knowledgeable in changing Freetown utility infrastructure and has demonstrated his ability for over 1O years now.
He also said he believes in President Bio’s commitment to developing Sierra Leone, which is why he is aspiring for the mayoral seat to help build a unified nation.
