The Board assured the public that those arrested would face the full weight of the law, serving as a strong deterrent to others who might consider engaging in illegal drug activities.
The Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone (PBSL), in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), the Operational Support Division of the Police (OSD), and the Sierra Leone Drug Law Enforcement Agency, has conducted a significant raid targeting drug peddlers in strategic areas across Freetown.
The operation focused on high-risk zones including PZ vicinity, Lumley, Funkia, Angola Town, Sackville Street, Guard Street, Eastern Police vicinity, and Dan Street, resulting in the arrest of 15 drug peddlers and the seizure of a large consignment of assorted illegal drugs.
Tamba Buffa, the Officer in Charge of the Distribution Chain Inspection Department at the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone, explained that these coordinated raids are part of a new strategic approach by the Agency to curb drug peddling and enhance public safety.
The collaboration between the PBSL and various security forces underscores the seriousness of the issue and the government’s commitment to tackling it head-on.
Buffa emphasised that this operation is just the beginning, with similar efforts planned to extend throughout the country. He assured the public that those arrested would face the full weight of the law, serving as a strong deterrent to others who might consider engaging in illegal drug activities.
